Hey there! I'm Karina, but most of my clients call me Coach K. I provide a friendly kick in the butt, motivating you to reach your goals and holding you accountable for your actions. With my background in health and aging, I ensure you get amazing results that stick long term. No quick fix plans here, where results disappear once you stop following the plan. With me as your sidekick, you’ll learn small but important lifelong habits that will keep getting you results, so you'll still be kicking ass at age 93.

The ol’ cliché of “If I can do it, so can you!” certainly rings true.
I have a lot of very unique barriers to training and eating the way I'd like to. I deal with a life-threatening allergic condition that prohibits me from exercising after having eaten within 8 hours, in case a food triggers a serious allergic reaction when coupled with exercise. I also face severe seasonal allergies and asthma for half the year, and I get weekly allergy shots after which I can’t train – again due to anaphylaxis risk.
Oh, and did I mention I'm allergic to raw fruit, corn, raw carrots, and all nuts except peanuts? As a vegan, that's a little challenging, to say the least!
As a big “screw you!” to all these barriers – and because I gotta walk the talk – with careful and consistent planning I’m physically active 6 days per week – even through grad school while working 3 jobs and planning my wedding! With very limited time for cooking, I’ve learned to prepare healthy and delicious meals quickly (and even wrote a book with more than 100 of these recipes).
With this experience under my belt, I help my clients to conquer their barriers and start getting the results of their dreams.

My job is to help you to live your best, healthiest, most plant-strong life. My award-winning online programs offer vegan fitness and nutrition coaching to clients around the globe who want to get super strong and show the world what plant-based athleticism is all about.
I’m a Certified Personal Training Specialist and Certified Online Trainer with a Master’s degree in Gerontology, specializing in health and aging. I work with vegans - and those interested in becoming plant-based. I've been vegan since 2003 and vegetarian since 1998.
I'm the author of 2 books (Vegan Vitality: Your Complete Guide to a Healthy, Active, Plant-Based Lifestyle; and Foam Rolling: 50 Exercises for Massage, Injury Prevention, and Core Strength), the creator of 2 online courses, host of the No-Bullsh!t Vegan podcast, and a regular writer for several online and print magazines including LifetimeDaily.com and alive magazine.
My husband, our two cats, and I live in the small town of Powell River, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of BC.

Accountability and consistency aren't flashy. But they work.
In order to make lasting change, consistency should be our number one priority. Staying consistent with your nutrition and fitness habits is much easier when there's someone keeping tabs on you! (Which is precisely why I have a coach of my own.)

This is why my approach to working with clients is to get them ready for "life after Coach K". Sure, some of my clients stay on long-term for new workouts each month, progress tracking, and accountability (and a kick in the butt, of course), but my goal is to get you to a point where you don't need me to stay consistent with your healthy living habits. The process looks different for each person, but you can bet your ass that accountability factors into the equation.

What do I do when I'm not kicking my clients' butts, working out, writing, or eating dark chocolate?
I play accordion, Australian didgeridoo, and piano.
I also bake mind-blowing vegan treats, hike and paddle board where I live on the Sunshine Coast of BC, and sneak spinach into my husband's smoothies.
Being a vegetarian for four years, I was ready to make the change and become vegan, but couldn’t quite do it by myself. I Googled “vegan fitness coach” and found Karina’s website. So happy I did! Her guidance and support were exactly what I needed to commit to veganism and get back to strength training in the gym!
